Allen Hudson Moderates Future of Flood Panel

Miami, Florida - This month, Insurance Business Magazine hosted The Future of Flood Summit to network, knowledge-share and most importantly, discuss the pending re-authorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the outlook of the flood market.

SAHOURI's Vice President of Commercial Lines, Allen Hudson, CIC, CRM was invited by the Magazine to serve as a moderator on a panel addressing the  evolving flood insurance landscape.

The Re-Authorization of the NFIP

In September 2017, the President signed legislation that was passed by both houses of Congress to extend the NFIP's authorization. However, Congress must re-authorize the extension by December 8, 2017.

A prolonged NFIP extension would give recent hurricane and flood victims a chance to recoup their losses and start over. It's life changing.

According to FEMA, flood insurance "is the best way for Americans to financially protect themselves from losses caused by floods."

The Future of Flood Summit

Every year, the Insurance Business Magazine brings together hundreds of insurance professionals nationwide to attend the Summit.

This year, attendees were represented by wholesale brokers, carriers, re-insurers, as well as Federal, State and local government.

In what is being termed as one of the most challenging times in flood insurance history, this summit helps the insurance industry by:

  • Connecting professionals with state and local government reps
  • Introducing innovations in flood risk assessment, hazard management and modeling solutions
  • Learning about emerging products and the gaps they address in today's flood market

Our goal was to bring together flood experts and industry leaders to address critical questions and dive into a dynamic discussion on today's evolving private flood market.

- Jesse Friedl, Conference Producer

Furthermore, the event covered pertinent topics like the insurance implications of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, updates on flood risk assessment and modeling in a post NFIP re-authorization market.

Allen Hudson Moderates Emerging Products Panel

The Closing the Gap Through Emerging Products panel addressed how the private market is meeting consumer needs in the current flood landscape that is constantly in flux.

Allen Hudson was invited to moderate the panel based on his 15+ years of experience as a specialist in the insurance industry and for his reputation as a risk management scholar and thought leader. He is recognized by his peers and Business Insurance Magazine as a Top 40 Under 40 Insurance Broker.
