Hello! My name is Melissa Vega and I am SAHOURI's Property & Casualty Practice Leader. Some would call my insurance journey to be a “text book” example or the American Dream.

My insurance career began at the age of 18 years old, I’ve worked for some of the most recognized companies in the industry (AIG, Marsh, Lockton, etc.). I’ve held many different positions: file clerk, secretary, account manager and account executive. My diverse experience still gives me an edge over the competition and an advantage to serve our clients with genuine understanding from every aspect.   

I came to SAHOURI. with 20+ years of experience in Commercial Insurance. I have an Associate's degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. I also obtained my Property & Casualty license at the College of Insurance in New York City.

In my current role, I am responsible for managing all aspects of the agency’s domestic and global commercial departments. This involves driving new business initiatives, maintaining existing customer relationships, and meeting both production and retention goals while managing the team. 

Joining this team was about finding a place to call home. A place that promotes diversity, professional development and shared success. I wanted to be a part of a culture that focuses on clients, employees and the relationships between them. When you have a career that spans over a decade with larger companies, you become a number rather than an asset. Here at SAHOURI, we're all a part of a movement. 

I am a phenomenal cook and my specialty is Puerto Rican cuisine. I enjoy meeting new people and reminding them that Brooklyn is home to the best pizza in New York 🗽
